Jimmy Horn Injury

“We’re Just Rehabbing Him” – Panthers Breakout Rookie Suffers Ill-Fated Injury

Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Jimmy Horn has been one of the team’s biggest winners during offseason practices, but an injury could slow down his impressive offseason. Selected in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Colorado product has routinely made headlines thanks to his sharp route running and remarkable catches. However, Horn missed Tuesday’s practices, and head coach Dave Canales didn’t give a firm timeline for his return.

“With Jimmy Hordn, he’s got a hamstring that we’re managing right now,” Canales said. “So, we’re just rehabbing him, he’s gonna return to play and then as soon as we feel like he’s ready to get back out there, we’ll bring him back out.”

Panthers Jimmy Horn Suffers Hamstring Injury, Timeline Unknown

While Canales didn’t say when to expect Jimmy Horn to return from his injury, his language suggests this isn’t a long-term issue. Chances are, he’ll return to compete for a job by the time mandatory minicamp rolls around.

Jimmy Horn is competing for a job on a young depth chart with plenty of promise but an uncertain floor. Top-10 pick Tetairoa McMillan has a high ceiling but has yet to play a professional snap. Veteran Adam Thielen played well when healthy last year, but is on the wrong side of 30 and not getting any younger. Second-year players Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker, meanwhile, showed promise as rookies but are not destined to be long-term starters in the league.

Assuming Jimmy Horn can overcome his hamstring injury, he should be able to win a job on the 53-man roster. Given the relative uncertainty on the depth chart, he could even be the third or fourth option in the passing game if he continues to build on his impressive early practices.
