Player Background:
Mason Graham was a star two-sport athlete at Servite High School in Anaheim, Calif., where he garnered attention from colleges as both a football player and as a wrestler. Graham committed to play football at Michigan as a four-star recruit in 2022 and saw immediate playing time as a freshman. He followed up a promising freshman season with three sacks and eight tackles for loss as a starter on the 2023 Michigan National Championship team. As a junior, Graham continued to grow as a player and finished the season as a unanimous All-American.
Strengths:
Graham’s greatest skill is his ability to shut down the run game. PFF rated Graham as the highest-rated run defender in college football in 2024, with a 92.6 run defense grade and 30 run stops. His ability to dominate against the run was best showcased this season against eventual National Champion Ohio State. Against Ohio State’s great run game, Graham posted a season-high seven tackles and a 90.9 run defense grade, according to PFF, helping him shut down the Buckeyes rushing offense to just 77 yards on 3.0 yards per carry.
While Graham is still growing as a pass rusher, he will enter the league with a solid base. He has incredibly fast, strong, and active hands and is equipped with an array of pass rush moves including an excellent swim move. He is explosive off the line of scrimmage and plays with relentless effort.
Weaknesses:
The main concern with Graham is arm length. His arm length is on the shorter side, which limits his upside as a pass rusher. It also makes it more difficult for him to establish leverage or shed blocks at times.
While Graham is a good pass rusher and generated a decent amount of pressure in college, his sack numbers are not overly impressive. Graham also needs to be more consistent with his pad level. He plays too high out of his stance sometimes and loses leverage.

Potential Team Fits
NFL Projection:
Mason Graham is a well-balanced defensive lineman who can make his presence felt on the field in multiple ways, with good pass rush abilities and incredible run defense. He’s an explosive athlete, with active hands and a high motor. His arm length is a concern, and it does limit his upside a bit. However, Graham is so dominant and consistent in most parts of his game that it is not a huge concern. Graham has the potential to be one of the best run defending defensive linemen in the league. He will need to take the next step as a pass rusher to reach his true potential overall, but if he does he could develop into one of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL.
