De’Von Achane is one of the most explosive running backs in the NFL and can change the game in the blink of an eye. Consistency was an issue for him, but the Miami Dolphins know they have an elite running back. Achane’s dynasty outlook for 2025 and beyond is very high to say the least.
De’Von Achane: Dolphins Running Back Dynasty Outlook
Current Performance
Achane ran for a career high 907 yards in 2024, surpassing his rookie year total by 27 yards. However, he almost doubled the number of touches he saw this past season. Achane recorded 203 carries in 2024 compared to just 103 in 2023. Fantasy owners were hurt the most by his lackluster performances when Tua Tagovailoa was out with a concussion.
In fantasy, he finished as the RB9 in standard leagues and RB5 in PPR leagues for total points. When looking at points per game, Achane drops to RB13 in standard and RB6 in PPR. His numbers are boosted by his ability to pass catches out of the backfield. Achane recorded 78 receptions for 592 yards and six touchdowns as a running back. As a running back, his target share is just under 19%… a number some wide receivers don’t even see.
To put that into perspective, he posted the same number of receiving touchdowns as star wide receiver Tyreek Hill. He was tied for second-most on the team and only trailed Jonnu Smith.
De’Von Achane Dynasty Price
KeepTradeCut lists Achane as the fourth-best running back for dynasty leagues heading in 2025. He’s ahead of standout running backs like Kyren Williams, Jonathan Taylor and Christian McCaffrey. Achane is also the 28th best player overall for dynasty leagues based on his age, explosiveness and tremendous upside.
Fantasycalc provides a list of all trades involving Achane. To say you’re giving up a king’s ransom to acquire him is an understatement. The overwhelming majority of trades start with a 2025 first rounder, and there’s usually two or three other pieces in the deal as well. Players being shipped out for Achane include Josh Allen, Derrick Henry and Puka Nacua.
If you don’t have Achane already, it’s certainly possible to still get him. However, the asking price will be extremely high and rightly so. Given his trajectory, he has the potential to be the RB1 in 2025.
De’Von Achane Contract and Salary
Achane is going into the third year of his rookie contract. He has two years left (2025 and 2026) before hitting free agency in March 2027. His salary for both seasons is under $1.5 million, a number the Dolphins love more each day. Achane and the Dolphins haven’t started negotiating an extension yet, but expect to hear news on that this time next year.
Dolphins Offensive Situation Given Tagovailoa’s Injuries
It would be misleading to not include a section about how poor the Dolphins offense played when Tagovailoa was injured. That pulled down everyone’s fantasy value, including Achane. Tagovailoa came back and finished the season for the Dolphins, but questions regarding his health still remain.
PPR leagues have an advantage given the fact that Achane was a huge check down target when Tagovailoa was out of the lineup. His receptions quickly added up for points which prevented him from being dropped to the bench.
For Achane specifically, he’s not going to be a workhorse like Henry or Saquon Barkley and receive 25-30 carries per game. You’ll more than likely only see him get 15-20 carries each week.
What to do With De’Von Achane in Dynasty Leagues
This is a no-brainer even with Tagovailoa’s health concerns. Keep Achane for as long as possible. The only way he’s worth trading is if you get someone who is willing to drastically overpay, and that helps you build an even better team.
