Chargers, Panthers Trade Candidate Tweets Out Frustration With Current Team

CeeDee Lamb Trade

The CeeDee Lamb trade rumors have never been louder. A first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Oklahoma product steadily climbed the Cowboys depth chart and has established himself as one of the game’s premier players at a crucial position. Last year, Lamb brought in a league-leading 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns while earning First-Team All-Pro honors. Now entering the final year of his rookie contract, Lamb is looking for a new deal that accurately reflects his value to the team.

Unfortunately, owner Jerry Jones doesn’t appear interested in handing out that type of contract. During a recent interview, Jones said he didn’t have “any urgency” to extend Lamb, and the wideout responded by laughing on X (formerly Twitter). In addition to Lamb, Dallas also needs to extend other homegrown superstars in Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons. If this frustration continues, then perhaps the Cowboys cut their losses and trade CeeDee Lamb to a receiver-needy team like the Chargers or Panthers.

Chargers, Panthers Could Pursue CeeDee Lamb Trade After Latest Tweet

The Los Angeles Chargers offense could be hard to watch in 2024. The team parted ways with Mike Williams and Keenan Allen in the offseason, partially due to their belief in their homegrown talent. So far, that hasn’t been a good bet. While second-round pick Ladd McConkey has reportedly performed well, 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston continues to produce lowlights. Justin Herbert is great, but he can’t do it all on his own, especially when he’s playing hurt.

Herbert suffered a foot injury early in camp and, as of this posting, most believe he will be able to suit up in Week 1. However, he’ll probably battle discomfort the entire season and won’t be at 100%. With this in mind, the Chargers should consider a CeeDee Lamb trade as a method to make life easier for their franchise quarterback. Harbaugh is rebuilding Los Angeles in his own image, which means nobody expects this team to compete with the Chiefs in 2024. However, Lamb could be a foundational player for this mini-rebuild, and pairing him with Herbert should lead to explosive results for the next decade.

Supporting Bryce Young

Based on yesterday’s action, the Carolina Panthers were smart to sit Bryce Young. While most of Carolina’s starters never touched the field in their 17-3 loss to the New England Patriots, you could tell this team has a long way to go. Jonathan Mingo once again struggled, dropping a wide-open pass, while the rest of the depth options failed to do much of anything throughout the game.

Perhaps the starting trio of Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen, and first-round pick Xavier Legette will be enough for Bryce Young once the season begins. However, Johnson is in the final year of his contract, Thielen is over 30, and Legette needed four years to become productive at the collegiate level. This trio possesses plenty of upside, but also a decent amount of risk. Executing a CeeDee Lamb trade will ensure that Young has at least one reliable receiver in both the short- and long-term.
