Top Remaining NFL Free Agents 2024

The first and second wave of NFL free agents have already signed. Who are some of the best remaining names without a team?
Top Free Agents

With the top NFL free agents finding teams across the league, who are some of the top names left? There are only a couple of feasible quarterbacks, and pickings are slim at most positions.

Top Remaining NFL Free Agents 2024

Odell Beckham Jr, WR

While he’s not the same impact player he was in his younger days, Beckham can still fill in as a good team’s WR2. Beckham was last seen as the two in Baltimore, and if he decides to lace them up it will likely be for a competing team.

Team Fits: Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins

Speedy Draft Receiver Option

Michael Thomas, WR

Yikes. The wide receivers left on the market all have glaring issues, but Thomas at least has past production to point to as a possibility. He hasn’t played a full season since Ford v. Ferrari was in theaters, but as a depth option teams could do worse.

Team Fits: Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans

David Bakhtiari, OT

When healthy, Bakhtiari is an above-average starter at a premium position. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been often in the past couple of years. He’s a one-year Band-Aid at best, but he’s a dang good one when available.

Team Fits: Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, Buffalo Bills

Mekhi Becton, OT

The former 11th overall pick has had a rough start to his career. He gave up the most sacks in the league in 2023, and the light hasn’t come on yet. He needs a change of scenery, and maybe a year behind an established starter to show him the ropes.

Team Fits: Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns

Brian Allen, C

Allen wasn’t called on much in 2023 due to injury, but he has multiple years of starting experience and can at least be a part time starter at center. His calf strain is unlikely to impact his 2024 availability. For teams lacking depth or a difference maker, he’s at least able bodied and available, which at this stage of free agency is a gold mine.

Team Fits: Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars

Possible Panthers Running Back Target

Justin Simmons, S

Excuse me? NFL teams should be clamoring for Simmons at this point. No, he’s not the same splash player he was in 2019. But part of the decrease in play could be from the weird air around Denver, and maybe a fresh start could revitalize the former All-Pro.

Team Fits: All of them. As the NFL moves to more pass happy systems, depth in the secondary is huge, and Simmons is the top of the options on the market right now.

Bud Dupree, EDGE

The issue with paying Dupree to be your lead Edge rusher is that, well, he’s not that guy. But he’s a fine rotational player who can let lead rushers catch their breath every once in a while. Dupree should find a home once the draft is over to fill in from time to time.

Team Fits: Atlanta Falcons (in a lesser role), Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals

Ryan Tannehill, QB

His starting days are behind him, but if a team is looking for a steady backup to run an offense, Tannehill should be their call. Carson Wentz is also on the market, but his history of locker rooms leave some room to be desired.

Team Fits: Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints

Packers Defensive Line

Change Is Coming For the Green Bay Packers Defensive Line

Before the 2009 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers ran a 4-3 defensive scheme. But that changed when then-head coach Mike McCarthy hired Dom Capers as his new defensive coordinator. Capers brought with him a 3-4 defensive scheme. That scheme, or at least a form of it, continued to be run after Capers departed in 2017. Mike Pettine and Joe Barry both ran a form of a 3-4 defense. But now, with the arrival of new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, the 3-4 departs, and the 4-3 enters. The new scheme means that the Green Bay Packers defensive line will have some learning to do in this year’s training camp.
