Everett is coming off a somewhat underwhelming season, finishing with 51 catches for 411 yards and three touchdowns. He did miss two games due to injury, but this was his lowest yardage total since 2019. Also of note was his lack of deep or even intermediate targets; he averaged 8.1 yards per reception.

Everett first played football in college in his junior year with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2014 but transferred to South Alabama in 2015 after the UAB program was shut down. In 2015 and 2016, he made First-Team All-Sun Belt.

In the 2017 NFL Draft, he was selected in the second round by the Los Angeles Rams, where he would play for four years. Initially, he had to split time and targets with Tyler Higbee, but his stats steadily got better – going from 16 receptions and 244 yards in 2017 to 41 receptions and 417 yards. In 2018 he played in the Rams Super Bowl loss and had one target but no receptions.

In 2021 he signed with the Seattle Seahawks and got his first opportunity as an undisputed starter. He put up 48 receptions for 478 yards and four touchdowns in that year. The Seahawks did not bring him back and he signed with the Chargers in 2022. He had his best season so far that year, putting up 58 receptions for 555 yards and four touchdowns. In the Chargers wildcard loss that same season, he had six catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. Notably, from 2017 through 2022, his stats improved every year, albeit at a small rate.

Gerald Everett thus far in his career has a total of 279 receptions, 2,798 yards, and 19 touchdowns.
