Must-Have Bargain Picks for DraftKings DFS Saturday Lineups

The AFC North has been disastrous in 2023 with important injuries making headlines. Let's hope this DraftKings DFS slate avoids the curse.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Allen Robinson

Normally a Steelers game against the Bengals in December would be one of the most highly anticipated games of the season. But probably not this year. Never fear, some DraftKings DFS action will liven up your Saturday.

DraftKings DFS Bargains Saturday Special

The Exciting Rookie DraftKings DFS Pick – Chase Brown

He was a bargain last week and will be again every week until he becomes more expensive than Joe Mixon. The rookie running back is averaging 6.6 yards per touch. And he scored a receiving touchdown. He should be the fourth most expensive running back on this DraftKings DFS slate too. He’s currently cheaper than Najee Harris, who averages 4.2 yards per touch in the stodgy Steelers offense. And Jaylen Warren who is only averaging 4.1 yards per touch since his monster game against the Browns 5 weeks ago.

The only downside to Brown’s fantasy potential is that in the last 3, games his carries have fallen from 9 to 8 and then to 8. But he has been used in the passing game and he’s yet to drop a catch. Overall Brown has seen 9, 11, and 10 touches in his last 3 games. Pittsburgh has conceded 4 receiving touchdowns to running backs in 2023. And they’re allowing 23.4 points per game to running backs in DraftKings DFS games.

The Wiley Old Veteran Pick – Allen Robinson

The Steelers offense has been awful recently, but 30-year-old Robinson is a reliable pass catcher. In his last 5 g,ames he’s caught 11 of his 14 targets. Robinson has been the Steelers’ most reliable receiver in 2023 (apart from Gunner Olszewski, but they’ve only thrown him 1 pass). How effectively they’ve used him in their offense is up for debate, but he’ll score DraftKings DFS points if they throw him the ball.

He’s currently valued lower than 5 of the receivers in this game, so he definitely falls into the “bargain” category. Robinson should be lined up opposite former Steeler Mike Hilton (expect fireworks). Hilton is only allowing 63.6% of passes thrown his way to be completed. But he has missed 10% of the tackles he’s been asked to make. Hilton allows 9.4 yards per completion. If Trubisky can get him the ball, he will pick up some yards.

The Buried On The Depth Chart DraftKings DFS Pick – Mitchell Wilcox

The Bengals have a newfound love of passing to their tight ends. And Mitchell is one of those tight ends. After seeing 4 targets in the first 8 games of the season Wilcox has seen 5 in the last 4. He’s catching 80% of his targets in 2023 too (they might want to throw to him a bit more). He averages 6.3 yards per touch in 2023 too.

The Steelers are allowing an average of 12.2 DraftKings DFS points per game to the tight end position in 2023. Wilcox should be the third most expensive tight end on this DraftKings DFS slate,

The “He Could Breakout This Week” DraftKings DFS Pick – Irv Smith Jr.

Smith Jr. Is another of the Bengals tight ends they’ve recently realized can catch. Smith Jr. Caught at least one pass in every Bengals game between Week 6 and Week 11. But he didn’t feature in Week 12 or Week 13. Last week he was back with a bang, catching 2 of his 3 targets. He averaged 9 yards per catch. The 18 receiving yards he recorded last week were his most since Week 9. The talent he displayed in Alabama has never really transferred to the pro game, but he could be a problem for a dinged-up Steelers defense.

The “It’s A Longshot, But It Might Just Work” Pick – Charlie Jones

Jones is a great punt returner, only four players have a higher average than the Bengals rookie in 2023. But he’s only 16 snaps with the offense this season. He has caught 60 of the passes they’ve thrown him though. If they can find a way to create some space for him to run into, he will gobble up the yards.
