Big Play Threat Finds New Home in Dallas

Martavis Bryant

The NFL comeback is finally happening for this newly reinstated wide receiver. After being reinstated, he quickly finds his new home with the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas has been heavily reliant on their star wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys finally added another weapon to boost their offense, despite only signing him to the practice squad.

Martavis Bryant spent some out of the league since 2018, so it’ll be interesting of how quickly the Cowboys will activate him to the main roster. Of course, Lamb, Michael Gallup, KaVontae Turpin, Brandin Cooks, and Jalen Tolbert all make up the 53-man roster. However, anything can change since there has been a lack of production between Gallup and Cooks. No doubt, Bryant is hungry for an opportunity and will use it to his advantage for America’s team.

Bryant entered the league coming out as a prospect coming out of Clemson. He caught eight touchdowns as a rookie in just 10 games with the Pittsburgh Steelers, then posted 765 receiving yards in 11 games playing his second year in the league. Of course, he had run-ins and troubles with the league office for violating substance policy.

That’s all in the past, the 31-year-old still has gas left in the tank and is ready to be called up anytime to the main roster. His resume has been catching the eye of other teams in the league and the Cowboys have indeed jumped ship on it. It’s unclear if he will emerge to the main roster, but Dallas fans will have to wait and see.

Former Fourth-Round Receiver Finds New Home in Dallas

A Fresh Start With the Cowboys

What a perfect way to make an NFL comeback and make it to the star. Cowboys fans should be excited for what’s to come for Bryant. Dallas has been struggling to find any production from any receiver other than Lamb. Lamb had a career-high of targets which resulted in 11 catches for 191 yards.

However, other receivers like Gallup who recently dropped a critical ball in the last seconds of the half against the Eagles are struggling. The new signee might be Gallup back on the market for next season. The future is bright though for the 31-year-old and he may line up alongside Lamb. The Cowboys are always savvy about their receivers as there’s no such thing as too much of them in the league.

Martavis Bryant Can Make an Impact

The fact that he made an immediate impact in Pittsburgh in his early days and is continuing to do so, is a bright young future. Bryant continued to make great strides despite his suspension, for many leagues like the XFL and Indoor Football League. He now joins the Cowboys that’s 5-3 and 2.5 games behind first place in the NFC East.

Bryant can be a complement to Lamb and can take the weight off his shoulders. He can easily emerge as the No.2 receiver behind Lamb. He is well on his way to being in his prime to be a deep threat. This is what the Cowboys are lacking and this may be the weapon that the team needs to be in midseason form.

The fight for a main roster spot is on and Bryant is not backing down from it. Obviously, the Cowboys still have Cooks and Gallup, but it’ll be interesting to see if they activate him soon.

Michael Gallup’s Time Is Ticking

After high expectations, Gallup could be well on his way out of Dallas after the season. There hasn’t been anything going for him in the mix. Guys like Jalen Tolbert have been getting chances so it seems like the Cowboys will continue to be a young team. The addition of Bryant can be complementary to the young talent and teach them.

Gallup has yet to match the energy of Lamb in his production. It could be because the Cowboys aren’t giving him chances like with Turpin. However, the receivers make the effort despite the routes they receive from their coach’s playbook. He may not be getting good looks from Dak Prescott, but Gallup did come back from an injury.

He may need a fresh start with a new team just like Bryant is having his chance now. It’s his time now to potentially be the new receiver that the Cowboys have been looking for since Amari Cooper’s departure.

Expectations for Bryant This Season

Bryant is still joining a talented roster filled with receivers he can learn from. He and Lamb could be the new dangerous duo and be a good force for Prescott to throw to. Despite him being on the practice squad, he can quickly fill a role for the main roster. The ball is in the hands of Bryant for him to have a formidable future in the league.
