Brian Robinson Jr. Fantasy Football Outlook: After the Shooting

Heading into the 2022 NFL season Brian Robinson was shot twice during an armed robbery after leaving a restaurant. Robinson recovered quickly, missing less than two months due to the injury. He missed the first four games of the Commanders’ season returning for limited action in week five against the Tennessee Titans where he saw nine attempts for 22 yards.

In week six against the Chicago Bears Robinson showed what he was capable of. 17 rushing attempts for 60 yards and his first career rushing touchdown. Robinson finished the week as the RB19. The rest of the season would have its ups and downs as the team struggled at quarterback and decided how running back carries would be split. Robinson would have an RB1 week in week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons where he had 18 carries for 105 yards and caught his first career touchdown pass. Robinson would have four RB2 finishes in 2022 and rack up eight weeks as the RB34 or better.

Brian Robinson Jr. Fantasy Football Outlook: Team Changes

2023 brings some changes to the Washington Commanders football team. Daniel Snyder who purchased the Washington Commanders in 1999 finally sold the team after years of scandals and fans calling for him to sell. A group led by Josh Harris that includes Magic Johnson purchased the team for 6.05 billion dollars. Head coach Ron Rivera stayed on with the team but offensive coordinator Scott Turned was relieved of his duties. Eric Bieniemy, the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator for the past five seasons, including for their two Super Bowl wins, was hired to replace Turner in what should be a massive upgrade.

The Commanders have placed their faith in young quarterback Sam Howell to take the starting job with veteran journeyman Jacoby Brissett as his backup. JD McKissic was released leaving Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson as the primary running back duo. The commanders shored up their offensive line this off-season, signing center Nick Gates and bringing over tackle Andrew Wylie from the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Brian Robinson Jr Fantasy Football Outlook: The Starter?

Robinson will no doubt share time in the backfield with Antonio Gibson. The hope is Gibson sees more work in the passing game and Robinson gets the between-the-tackles work. Surprisingly after week 10 in 2022, Derek Henry and Josh Jacobs are the only running backs who got more carries than Robinson. The commanders proved they are willing to lean on him and he proved he can hold up to the workload.

Currently, on Sleeper in Full PPR, Robinson is going off the board as the 34th running back selected, with an ADP of 102.7. As a ninth or 10th-round pick in a 10-team fantasy football league. Robinson can be flexed in the right matchups. More importantly, he offers the upside of being an explosive back who gets a lot of work. There is a chance Robinson establishes himself as the number one in Washington and your 10th-round selection becomes a starter on your fantasy football team.
