2022 was a season to forget for Isaiah Wynn. After spending the majority of his career on the left side of the offensive line, the Patriots moved him to right tackle in order to make room for Trent Brown. That decision did not pay off, as Wynn responded with what was easily the worst season of his career. The Georgia product finished the season with a 54.6 PFF grade, which ranked 75th out of 83 eligible tackles. To make matters worse, injuries limited Wynn to just nine games, although he still found a way to record nine penalties when on the field.
Isaiah Wynn originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the New England Patriots, the Georgia product spent training camp competing with Trent Brown for the starting left tackle position. However, before he could make his claim for the starting job, Wynn suffered a season-ending injury during the preseason. While healing up, the Patriots went on to win their sixth Super Bowl in franchise history.
Wynn returned to the field in 2019 and took the left tackle job after Trent Brown received a massive contract. The second-year pro made his NFL debut in Week 1 and played well. Unfortunately, he suffered yet another injury in Week 2 and landed on the short-term injured reserve. He came back for the second half of the 2019 season and made his postseason debut in the Wild Card round against the Tennessee Titans.
Wynn retained the starting job in 2020, playing in 10 games while keeping Cam Newton upright. He remained the left tackle in 2021, playing in 16 games while helping a rookie Mac Jones lead New England to the postseason.
