Hargrave has has a productive 2022 for an interior defensive lineman. The nature of the position does not allow for many counting stats. Despite this, Hargrave has racked up 11 sacks, 60 total tackles and 16 quarterback hits. The dominant season was especially felt in Weeks 8 through 10, where the Eagles played the Steelers, Houston Texans and Washington Commanders. In those games he averaged two sacks a game, nine tackles and recorded his only forced fumble of the season.

The Steelers selected Hargrave in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. After a successful college career at South Carolina, Hargrave has a relatively quiet rookie season. He recorded 27 total tackles and only two sacks. In 2017 Hargrave continued his low production. In a season where he was expected to take a large step forward, Hargrave recorded 32 total tackles and two sacks.

Hargrave finally took a step forward in 2018 and became a more dominant force on the inside. He improved his tackle total, sack total, quarterback hits and even deflected a pass. This trend continued into 2019 with another solid season before hitting free agency for the first time in his career.

The Eagles signed Javon Hargrave to a three year $39 million contract in 2020, bolstering the interior of their defensive line. Hargrave has been a force on the inside recording 23 sacks in just three years with the team. In 2021 Hargrave was selected to the first pro bowl of his career, and by counting stats actually had an even better 2022 but did not get selected. Hargrave finished 2022 tied for third in sacks for all interior defensive lineman.
