NFL veteran tight end Evan Engram is expected to receive the franchise tag. Engram, a one-time Pro Bowl selection, spent the 2022 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars but has also played for the New York Giants.

The 2022 season was Engram’s best in quite some time. After signing a one-year deal in the offseason, the former first-round pick has a solid season catching passes from Trevor Lawrence. In total, the tight end finished the season with 73 receptions for 766 yards and four touchdowns on 98 targets.

His best stretch came at the end of the season when he recorded 31 receptions for 380 yards and two touchdowns on 39 targets over the final five games of the regular season. He also played a huge role in Jacksonville’s 27-point comeback against the Los Angeles Chargers, hauling in seven receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets.

Evan Engram originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Selected by the New York Giants, the Mississippi product hit the ground running and immediately made an impact. As a rookie, Engram recorded 64 receptions for 722 yards and six touchdowns on 115 targets, insane production for a first-year tight end.

Unfortunately, injuries made Engram unable to match that production in 2018 and 2019. While he was still a productive part of the offense when on the field, he only played in a grand total of 19 games over the next two seasons, recording 89 receptions for 1,044 yards and six touchdowns on 132 targets.

Engram returned to health in 2020 and put together yet another strong season. Appearing in all 16 games, the tight end recorded 63 receptions for 654 yards and one touchdown on 109 targets. However, Evan Engram had arguably the worst season of his career in the final year of his rookie contract. In 2021, the former first-round pick recorded just 46 receptions for 408 yards and three touchdowns on 73 targets.
