Veteran linebacker De’Vondre Campbell and the Green Bay Packers have agreed to a new contract. Campbell has spent the first six years of his career with three NFL teams. De’Vondre Campbell had an excellent season at inside linebacker in 2021. Campbell led the Green Bay Packers defense on his way to being named to the First Team AP All-Pro list. Campbell led the team in total tackles with 146 on the year; that number was over 50 more tackles than the next highest defender. His team-leading solo and assisted tackle numbers showcased his ability to move quickly around the field and stop plays from developing.

Campbell also helped make some big plays for the Packers defense that struggled at times. In the run game, Campbell was a powerful force; he had six tackles-for-loss and two forced fumbles on the year, including one fumble recovered. In the passing game, Campbell tallied two sacks, two interceptions, and five pass deflections. He was a great dual-threat linebacker the entire year and helped solidify the Packers solid linebackers core behind guys like Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith.

Campbell was a fourth-round draft pick by the Atlanta Falcons in 2016. In four seasons with Atlanta, Campbell racked up nearly 400 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles. He also deflected 16 passes over four seasons of work.

Campbell signed with the Arizona Cardinals for the 2020 season. He had a productive year in terms of playing sound defense, but the splash plays that he made in Green Bay were absent in 2020 with Arizona. Campbell still accumulated nearly 100 tackles in 16 games with the Cardinals, including seven of them for a loss.

In June of 2021, De’Vondre Campbell signed a one-year contract with the Packers. He had a career year in 2021, and his First Team All-Pro nomination shows that he dominated in multiple facets of defense.
