Christian Kirk Signs Contract With Jacksonville Jaguars

Longtime NFL veteran wide receiver Christian Kirk signed a new contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kirk spent the first four seasons of his career with the Arizona Cardinals.

Kirk’s 2021 season was the best he’s had as a pro. The fourth-year wideout led the Cardinals in receiving yards last year. He finished his season with 982 yards, just 18 shy of a 1,000-yard season. Kirk also had 77 receptions on 103 targets and five touchdowns. He had career highs in receptions, yardage, and catch rate. Kirk had the second-most receiving touchdowns, behind only DeAndre Hopkins. He played in all 17 games but started in just 11 of them.

In the 2020 season, Kirk shared the field with both Larry Fitzgerald and Hopkins. He played in 14 games, starting in 10 of them. Kirk had 48 receptions on 79 targets along with 621 yards and six touchdowns that season. Kirk was second on the team in receiving yards and tied with Hopkins for most scores through the air.

In Kirk’s sophomore campaign of 2019, he played in 13 games and started in each of them. He hauled in 68 catches on 108 targets for 709 yards and three touchdowns. That season, Kirk also had 10 rushing attempts for 93 yards, with a long of 28. Kirk saw a solid uptick in usage in his second year, with an increase of 40 targets compared to his rookie campaign.

Kirk played in 12 games during his rookie campaign, starting in seven of them. He had 43 catches on 68 targets for 590 yards and three touchdowns that year. Kirk had a 13.7 yard per reception average his rookie season. He also had 21 punt returns for 164 yards with a long of 44.

The Cardinals selected Kirk with the 47th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Kirk is originally from Scottsdale, AR, and played college football at Texas A&M. He played three seasons for the Aggies. Kirk’s college career totals are 2,856 yards on 234 receptions. He totaled 26 touchdowns in college.
