NFL Rumors: Dak Prescott is not battling through injury, Shaquill Griffin should return for Week 14, Aldon Smith arrested for a felony.
Dak Prescott Rumors

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has struggled through the past few weeks of action, but according to the latest NFL rumors, the franchise passer is perfectly healthy. In other news, cornerback Shaquill Griffin is expected to return from his concussion, while Aldon Smith was arrested for a felony.

NFL Rumors: Dak Prescott, Shaquill Griffin, Aldon Smith

At his best, Dak Prescott has been one of the NFL’s best passers this year. However, he’s also struggled with inconsistency over the past few weeks, making some believe that he’s battling through injury. Recently, team owner Jerry Jones went to the airwaves to dispel this notion.

Speaking on 105.3 The Fan, Jones said that Prescott is 100% healthy, and that a good portion of Prescott’s perceived bad throws are actually the product of receivers running poor routes.

“The thing that you’re seeing is sometimes the pass looks errant is because the receiver, for instance, ran the route two yards, cut it off two yards shorter. He should be out two more yards before he makes his cuts…That’s one of the answers: better routes.”

Even if the receivers are to blame, Prescott’s statistically underwhelming weeks have probably taken him out of the MVP race. That being said, the Cowboys are still in a great position to win their division and make a serious playoff push. If Prescott and the receivers can get on the same page, this team will be very hard to stop.

Urban Meyer: Shaquill Griffin Should Be Back

This has been a season to forget for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but help should be on the way in Week 14. According to head coach Urban Meyer, cornerback Shaquill Griffin should be back on the field for Sunday’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans

While Griffin hasn’t set the world on fire, he has clearly been Jacksonville’s best cornerback. Prior to his concussion, Griffin missed just one snap throughout the entire season while starting in all 10 games.

The Jaguars are going to need Griffin if they want to pull the upset on the injury-plagued Tennessee Titans. The team activated Julio Jones from the short-term injured reserve, and the receiver could very well suit up on Week 13. As the only viable threat in that offense, Griffin will likely play a big part in slowing down the two-time All-Pro.

Aldon Smith Arrested For DUI Causing Injury

Longtime NFL veteran Aldon Smith added yet another chapter to his long book of run-ins with the law. According to TMZ, the veteran free agent was arrested on a felony charge of DUI causing injury. Per the report, Smith is still in custody with a $50,000 bond.

Unfortunately, Smith is no stranger to legal issues. Back in 2012, the defensive end was arrested for DUI in Florida and has also been arrested in 2013, 2015, and 2018 for similar charges. Additionally, he has also faced battery charges and three felony charges of illegal possession of an assault weapon over the years.

Smith originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Selected by the San Francisco 49ers, the Missouri product finished the season with a staggering 14 sacks. He followed that up by recording 19.5 in his second season while earning First-Team All-Pro honors. However, legal issues followed him from there on out, ultimately resulting in him missing four seasons from 2016 to 2019. The Cowboys took a chance on him in 2020, and he rewarded them with five sacks in 16 games. However, following his latest arrest, it’s hard to imagine him ever returning to the football field.
