Jacksonville Jaguars Training Camp Week 1 News and Notes

The Jacksonville Jaguars first week of training camp for the 2021 season is in the books. Here's some news and notes from this week's action.
Jaguars Training Camp

It’s beginning to get real. The Jacksonville Jaguars have completed their first week of training camp. One step closer to the 2021 season. One step closer to a generational talent [Trevor Lawrence] taking his first live game snaps. Another step closer to Urban Meyer’s NFL coaching debut. This is where the rubber meets the road. Free agency and the draft are over. It’s time for the team to get together and prepare for 17 weeks of competition.

News, Notes From Jacksonville Jaguars Training Camp

Trevor Lawrence is the Real Deal

As if this wasn’t already obvious. Lawrence is already the best quarterback on the Jaguars roster. Despite any coach speak, there is no real competition here. Though the pads aren’t on yet, Lawrence is completing a high volume of his passes. He’s got great touch and has shown that he’s mentally preparing himself. Lawrence made use of a free play in practice to complete a long pass, similar to the likes of Aaron Rodgers. Yes, it’s just the first week of training camp, but Lawrence is looking like the elite prospect analysts projected.

Tim Tebow is Making his Mark

Tim Tebow might be a long shot to make the roster. But he’s doing his darnedest close the experience gap with hard work and determination.

Tebow’s first three days at camp went well. He seems to catch everything thrown his way. He even caught a touchdown from Lawrence on Friday. There’s still a long way to go, but he just might make the team. From a catching stand point, his biggest competition is Tyler Davis (Oshaugnessy is the number one TE).

No More Competition at Placekicker

Josh Lambo is once again the placekicker for the Jaguars. This shouldn’t be a surprise. He’s  been one of the best kickers in the league since joining the Jags. However, Aldrick Rosas played for six games last season when Lambo was injured. He started this off season on the roster in what looked like a camp battle for the kicking job. The battle was short-lived though. Rosas was waived today.
