Faces of the 2021 Jacksonville Jaguars

2021 Jacksonville Jaguars

The 2021 Jacksonville Jaguars are entering a new era of football for the franchise. With a new franchise quarterback and head coach, the Jaguars are ready to take the NFL by storm this season. Jacksonville had a rough year in 2020. The franchise defeated the Colts to open the season 1-0. But then, the Jaguars went 0-15 and ended up with the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The team has many talented players on the roster, but these three players listed below could not only have the best production for the team, but are the faces of the 2021 Jacksonville Jaguars heading into the season.

2021 Jacksonville Jaguars: Faces of the Team

James Robinson

James Robinson broke onto the scene last season following the departure of Leonard Fournette. Robinson’s rookie year in 2020 was nothing short of excellent. He ran for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns on 240 carries. He also had 49 catches for 344 yards and three touchdowns. Not only can he run the ball well, Robinson is an efficient pass catcher out of the backfield.

His second year could be even better, and Robinson is ready to be known as one of the best backs in the NFL. When fans think of the Jaguars in 2021, James Robinson will certainly be a name that comes to mind.

Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence is the future of the Jaguars at quarterback. While there might be an open competition currently, Lawrence has looked great in mini camp and is turning heads at practice. The rookie and first overall pick was selected by Jacksonville for one reason: to win Super Bowls. Lawrence certainly has the size and arm strength to lead the Jaguars in the right direction.

With a solid supporting cast of receivers and strong running backs, Lawrence will be able to take Jacksonville back to the playoffs at some point. It likely won’t happen in 2021, but the Jaguars will for sure be a consistent contender in years to come. Couple his offense with new head coach Urban Meyer and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, and the Jaguars are a team on the rise.

Leave no doubt, Trevor Lawrence is the future of the franchise. He might just have to earn his position this season.  The consensus thought is that Lawrence becomes the starting quarterback before the season. If that happens, Jaguars fans are in for a show on Sundays at TIAA Bank Field.

Josh Allen

Josh Allen has been a consistent contributor on defense during his two years with the Jaguars. The former seventh overall pick was a 2020 Pro Bowl selection. The defensive end finished 2020 with 13 tackles and two and half sacks. While his rookie season was more impressive, Allen battled injuries last season. Coming back healthy in 2021 will be key for one of the Jaguars best defensive players.

The Jaguars defense revolves around Josh Allen and a few other players. But Allen has become a viable asset to the defense. For the Jaguars defense to improve their numbers, Allen has to stay healthy and be active on every snap.

The 2021 Jacksonville Jaguars could surprise teams this season. The faces of the team could be the spark to consistency and having better production on both sides of the ball. While making the playoffs may be out of reach, the franchise is in a new era and anxious to take the field in September.
