Carolina Panthers 2021 NFL Draft Prospects: Second Round

Carolina Panthers 2021 NFL Draft prospects for the second round. Here are some players the Panthers could target in the second round.

While it may not have been the flashiest pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Matt Rhule and the Carolina Panthers opted to select South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn with the eighth overall pick. The talented cornerback blew Carolina’s defensive staff away during scouting meetings and was reportedly the highest player on their draft board at the time of their selection. After addressing their need at the cornerback position in the first round, the Panthers will be heading into Day 2 of the 2021 NFL Draft with plenty of work to do. Fortunately, there’s a plethora of excellent players out their waiting to hear their name called. Below is a breakdown of some players the Panthers could target in the second round.

Carolina Panthers 2021 NFL Draft Prospects for the Second Round

Dillon Radunz (draft profile)

Height: 6’6”

Weight: 299 pounds

Position: Offensive tackle

School: North Dakota State

Prospect Breakdown

Currently sitting with the seventh pick in the second round, the Panthers are in a great position to get a high-value player. One such player is North Dakota State’s Dillon Radunz. After selecting South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn in the first round, the Panthers should be looking to grab Sam Darnold a quality left tackle in the second round. Radunz would be the perfect selection for the Panthers, as his impressive physical strength and sound fundamentals make him capable of starting immediately. On tape, Radunz shows fantastic explosiveness and great versatility, along with some impressive body control. All in all, if Radunz is available at Carolina’s pick, don’t be shocked if they select the former Bison.

Trevon Moehrig (draft profile)

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 208 pounds

Position: Safety

School: TCU

Prospect Breakdown

After parting ways with Tre Boston this off-season, the Panthers have work to do at the safety spot. Now, with one of the first selections in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, they have the chance to address the position. One player who could potentially solve Carolina’s issues at the safety position is TCU’s Trevon Moehrig. The immensely talented Moehrig impressed scouts with his elite ball skills and smooth hips. One NFC team’s scout was so impressed with Meohrig’s tape that he viewed him as better than their current team’s safeties.

Rondale Moore (draft profile)

Height: 5’9”

Weight: 180 pounds

Position: Wide receiver

School: Purdue

This early in the draft, it would probably be odd to expect the Panthers to target a wide receiver, given that it’s not much of a position of need for the organization. However, because of Moore’s impressive ability, he will be considered one of the best remaining players. Moore’s impressive speed and elusiveness make him incredibly difficult to cover, despite his smaller frame. While Moore doesn’t have much game experience at the college level, when he has played, he has been incredibly consistent, turning in impressive showings week in and week out.

One NFC team’s scout was so impressed with Moore, he had the following to say: “I absolutely love his game. So much dog in him once he’s got the rock. You want guys like that on your team.”

If the top remaining offensive linemen are off the board at the seventh pick in the second round, don’t be surprised is the Panthers select the former Boilermaker.

Last Word on Carolina Panthers 2021 NFL Draft Prospects: Second Round

There are various positions the Panthers could address in the second round, including offensive tackle or safety (or possibly wide receiver if Moore is available). They would do well to select one of the players listed above if one is available when they are on the clock.
