Cameron Erving Signs With Carolina Panthers

In 2020 Cameron Erving played six games, starting in five, for the Cowboys. During those six games, Erving did not allow a sack at the offensive tackle position amongst a wilting offensive line. Erving played in 26% of offensive snaps during the 2020 season. He did not commit a holding penalty but was called on a false start two times.

Before joining the Cowboys in free agency in 2020 he played in 27%, 79% and 56% of snaps for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2017 to 2019 respectively. Prior to being traded to Kansas City he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.

The first round lineman was an attractive grab standing 6’5” weighing 313 lbs. He boasted a 5.15 second 40-yard dash with a 7.48 second three-cone drill. The big offensive lineman also recorded a 9’4” broad jump and excelled on the bench press with 30 repetition. Erving has been a very clean offensive linemen over his career  committing seven total penalties in 2016, 12 in 2018, and four in 2019. Most of Erving’s penalties are false start penalties, speaking to his solid hand work in pass and run blocking.

The former Super Bowl champion and first round draft pick played his college football for the Florida State University Seminoles. As a Seminole, Erving played defensive tackle during his freshman season. Erving moved to offensive tackle in his sophomore season. In 2013, Erving was the All-ACC left tackle protecting Jameis Winston. As a senior in 2014, Erving moved to center replacing Austin Barron. Barron suffered an arm injury against Wake Forest University. During his time at Florida State University, Erving started in 42 consecutive games and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
