Houston Texans December Projections

Houston Texans December Projections

The Houston Texans December projections will give fans of the team a better outlook for Houston as they continue their trek to the playoffs. Quarterback Deshaun Watson is still a candidate for the MVP award. They have the lead in the AFC South. With a current record of 7-4, a playoff berth is in their sights. Though they have a tough game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, Houston can still earn a playoff berth even with a loss, as they will have four games left. The AFC is a tight race up to this point. The Texans can’t win the conference, but they could vouch for a number two seed with some magic happening.

Houston Texans December Projections: First Three Games

Entering the final month of the 2019 NFL regular season, the Houston Texans are in a great position. A 7-4 record, a division lead, and an MVP candidate in their star quarterback. What this team has accomplished this season is nothing short of great. As the final five games near, each and every win Houston can amount for is crucial. With just one game separating them and the Indianapolis Colts, every week is crucial. It’s crunch time in the AFC South.

New England Patriots

On Sunday, Houston welcomes the 10-1 New England Patriots into NRG Stadium. This game will be a battle from the beginning. The Patriots have the top defense in the AFC. Also, they have a veteran Super Bowl-winning quarterback in Tom Brady. For the Texans, Deshaun Watson has played great in most games this year. The Texans’ defense will have to step up and play a full 60-minute game to have success. They have to limit Brady’s ability to throw the ball and pressure him into uneasy situations. But, the Patriots defense will prove to be too much for Watson and the Texans’ offense to handle. Patriots win 31-24.

Denver Broncos

On December 8th, the Denver Broncos come to town. This is a disoriented Denver team led by veteran quarterback Joe Flacco. Currently, with a 3-8 record, the Broncos are out of contention for the playoffs. Deshaun Watson and the offense will be able to move the ball down the field in this game. Along with that, the Texans’ defense will stop Flacco from effectively throwing the ball. Texans win 35-17.

Tennessee Titans

On December 15th, Houston travels to Nashville for their first meeting with the Titans. This is the first of two match-ups between the teams in December. The Titans are coming off a blowout 42-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Currently sitting at 6-5, the Titans are still very alive in the AFC South race. Even if these two split, one of these teams could win the division. For this meeting, the Texans’ second-level defense is going to have to game plan correctly to stop Derrick Henry. This will be a close game, but the Texans will fall in Nashville 38-35.

Houston Texans December Projections: Final Two

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In Week 16, Houston travels to Tampa Bay to face the Buccaneers. The Texans should be able to get a win easily, although the Bucs have looked decent their past few games. If Tampa Bay can get a momentum swing going, this could be an upset. However, the Texans defense will continue to improve. Texans win 35-21.

Tennessee Titans Round Two

The second and final meeting of 2019. This time, the game is in Houston. Depending on what happens in the next four weeks, this game could be for the AFC South. Both of these teams do not like each other. If the Texans are already a playoff lock going into the game, a loss wouldn’t matter as much. But, a win would solidify their seed in the playoffs. For round two, Deshaun Watson will get revenge and play at the MVP level he’s been playing at all season. Texans win 31-17.

Houston Texans December Projections Thoughts

As the final five games get closer, the Houston Texans December projections can give fans a better look at what to expect going down the stretch. The Texans want a better seed in the playoffs. For that to happen, the Ravens need to lose a few games and the Texans have to win at least three of their final five. Deshaun Watson can surpass Lamar Jackson for MVP, but he has to play efficiently the final five games. Even against the New England Patriots and their talented defense, Watson has to play well. If the Texans can win at least three out of five, they’ll be AFC South champions and a definitive lock for the playoffs once again.
