Defense Waiver Wire

Fantasy Football Week 7 Defense Waiver Wire Streams: Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, More

Five weeks of NFL play are officially in the books, which means bye weeks are in full swing. Gone are the days where you could just coast by on a strong draft. Now more than ever, you’ll need to search the waiver wire for the best available defense streams. Heading into Week 6, you should set your eyes on the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, and Cincinnati Bengals.

Note that in order to make this list, the defense had to be available in over 50% of fantasy leagues. If you’re in smaller leagues, there may be better players available. Make sure to check your waivers to see if there are any diamonds in the rough before submitting your claims.

Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans Highlight Fantasy Football Week 7 Defense Waiver Wire Streams

Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals don’t have a good defense, but they should be at their best in Week 7. After serving a six-game suspension, cornerback Patrick Peterson is back on the field. Peterson is still one of the better coverage men in the league and should boost Arizona’s pass defense. This won’t be a great unit by any means, but they’re capable of forcing a few turnovers in Week 7.

The Cardinals face off against the New York Giants and the turnover-prone Daniel Jones. While Jones has played well, all things considered, he’s had trouble taking care of the ball. So far, Jones has thrown six interceptions and lost two fumbles during his four starts. Saquon Barkley is coming back, but Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram still might miss the game. Arizona might give up points, but the turnover and sack potential make them a decent streaming option.

Tennessee Titans

You normally don’t want to stream a defense against the Los Angeles Chargers, but 2019 is a weird year. As is custom, the Chargers are falling apart at the seams with some of the worst injury luck in the league. The offensive line is a mess, and Philip Rivers has nobody to throw to outside of Keenan Allen and perhaps Hunter Henry.

These injury woes aren’t new to Los Angeles, but what is new is that Rivers isn’t overcoming the underwhelming surroundings. The quarterback hasn’t looked like himself this year, owning a 55.3 QBR, which would be the second-lowest of his career. Additionally, he’s one of the luckiest quarterbacks in the league based on expected turnovers, so he’s due for some regression. The Titans have a good defense and should capitalize on this matchup.

Cincinnati Bengals – Worst-Case Defense Waiver Wire Claim

Look, I know. Nobody wants to play the Cincinnati Bengals defense. This unit has no talent and might be the worst in the league, outside of Miami. However, picking a strong fantasy football defense stream has just as much to do with the opposing offense as it does the defense itself. If you’re in a deep league and all other options are taken, the Bengals have the chance to take advantage of a favorable matchup.

So far, the Jacksonville Jaguars offense has been hot and cold with rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew. There’s no denying he’s outplaying his sixth-round draft pedigree, but he still struggles to string together top-notch performances. Last week, the Jaguars put up just six points against an admittedly strong New Orleans Saints defense. The Bengals won’t do that, but they could be a decent start if you’re truly desperate.
