Cornerback Pierre Roberde Desir is re-signing with the Indianapolis Colts, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. After bouncing around, Desir played with the Colts for the past two years.

Indianapolis Colts to Re-Sign Pierre Desir to Multi-Year Deal

Desir is a bit of a journeyman so his career 2018 season was a surprise. He played in all 16 games for the Colts; his previous high was 14 in 2015. He also doubled his career-high in starts, also set in 2015, making 12. Desir tallied 79 total tackles (60 solo) with eight pass break ups, two forced fumbles, one recovery, and one interception. He did not have flashy numbers, but Pro Football Focus gave him a grade of 77.7 which was his for 18th among corners.

Standing 6’1”, Desir has 159 total tackles (122 solo), 23 passes defended, two picks, two forced fumbles, and one recovery in his career. He only played in nine games (six starts) in 2017, his first in Indy, but he still made 32 combined stops (21 solo), defended seven passes, and picked one off. His 2015 season yielded slightly higher tackle totals but he also played in five more games that season. In five professional seasons, Desir has played in 49 out of a possible 80 games due to a mix of being inactive often early in his career and injuries.

The Cleveland Browns drafted Desir in the fourth round (127th overall) of the NFL Draft in 2014. He was the first player ever to be drafted out of Lindenwood University. Desir won the inaugural Cliff Harris award in 2013 for the nation’s top small school defensive back. He was also AFCA D-II All-American and was a First-Team All-MIAA selection in 2012 and 2013. Pierre finished top in MAIA history with passes defended and has the second-most interceptions in conference history with 25. A number that also places him in the top-10 in D-II history. He spent 2008-10 at Washburn University where he was First-Team All-MIAA in 2009 and Second-Team in 2010. Desir was born in Port Au Prince, Haiti.
