The Carolina Panthers held their seventh training camp practice on Thursday, August 2nd. It is their last practice before fan fest which will take place at Bank of America Stadium back in Charlotte, North Carolina. Below are notables from Thursday’s practice.

Notable Moments from Day Seven of Carolina Panthers Training Camp

Glad to Have You Back Curtis Samuel

Thursday happened to be wide receiver Curtis Samuel‘s second day of practice this training camp after being removed from the team’s PUP list on Wednesday. Samuel had the play of the day when he went over the top to make a spectacular catch on a deep ball from Cam Newton.

Samuel had his rookie season cut short due to a foot injury but the second-year wide receiver is looking to bounce back and play an important role in the offense this year.

Cam Being Cam

We have seen throughout this training camp that Newton has not held back in showing his emotions and is looking to spread positive energy to his teammates and coaching staff. Well, Thursday was no different. The starting quarterback found a cameraman before practice and had a little fun while the rest of the team was warming.

Carter Making Some Noise

The Panthers fifth-round pick Jermaine Carter has worked his way from the bottom of the depth chart and saw some reps with the first defense on Thursday. The rookie linebacker made a nice play in 7-on-7 drills breaking up a pass that was intended for tight end Greg Olsen. With Thomas Davis four-game suspension at the beginning of this year, the Panthers linebacker depth will be tested early on. Carter may find himself on the field for more than just special teams this season if he keeps producing at this rate.

Other News
