A familiar face is coming back to hone his skills in Western New York this fall. On Tuesday, Morning, the Buffalo Bills announced that they have re-signed linebacker, Ramon Humber.

As per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the breakdown of Humber’s contract is as such:

Humber’s Resume

The 30-year old is entering his eighth year in the NFL, after being an undrafted free-agent signee of the Indianapolis Colts in 2009. This upcoming season will be the third for Humber in Buffalo. Much to the surprise of many Bills fans, Humber took ownership of the starting weakside linebacker role at the start of the 2017-18 season. His impressive training camp and preseason were contributing factors that led to the Bills trading Reggie Ragland to the Kansas City Chiefs prior to regular season commencement.

Last season, Humber played a total of 13 games overall, amassing 56 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble. He started the year playing exceedingly well but sustained a thumb injury during the team’s fourth game of seasons against the Atlanta Falcons.

In a media scrum following the game, Defensive coordinator, Leslie Frazier, gave Humber and his hold on the starting WLB role a vote of confidence:

“Well, hopefully, we’ll get Ramon back soon,” Frazier said. “He has a pretty serious injury, when you do the damage that he did to his thumb, but Matt did a good job, but we’d like to have Ramon back. Ramon’s not going to lose his job because of injury. He was playing well for us prior to his injury, and we look forward to having him back.”

By the end of the season, Humber had played in 51.35 percent of defensive snaps and 21.97 percent of special teams snaps.

Where Humber Fits

As it stands now, Humber likely be slotted behind Milano as the team’s primary backup weakside linebacker.
