Buffalo Bills Defensive Tackle Adolphus Washington Arrested

Flashing his illegal gun got Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Adolphus Washington arrested tonight around 10 PM EST at a water park in Buffalo.

All the NFL needs is one class, titled “How To Conceal Illegal Firearms,” and then maybe the number of players arrested for the offense will decrease. Unless that happens, we will continue to hear arrest reports like the one tonight about Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Adolphus Washington. The 2016 NFL Draft third round pick was spotted handling a gun inside his vehicle, and there the officers arrested and released him.

Buffalo Bills Defensive Tackle Adolphus Washington Arrested

The incident itself wasn’t that unfortunate, but the fact that Adolpus Washington has found himself dealing with an arrest isn’t ideal for the team or his expectations. In college, the Ohio State product got mixed up with a prostitute and was suspended for the 2016 Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame for unclear team violations. This is his first illegal incident while in the NFL, but he was also benched late last season by interim head coach Anthony Lynn for poor practice performance.

Washington didn’t have a bad rookie season, he did his job. The Buffalo Bills are strong at defensive tackle with Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams anchoring at the starting spots. Washington has competition for the top backup spot, but his experience and talent level gives him an edge. In 15 games and 11 starts, Washington recorded 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks in just about 30% of the team’s snaps.

The Buffalo Bills might be thinking of Washington as a plan for the future. Kyle Williams is still playing well but 34 years old is a tough age on any football player. At the same time, Washington hasn’t showed any special starter talent, and getting into off the field problems isn’t helping him increase the chances of a long career.

Two college incidents, an attitude benching and an arrest over two years is tough to overlook when making cuts. Unfortunately not every young player is going stay out of trouble and Washington is the latest example.
