Andrew Norwell Signs Free Agent Tender

Norwell was a good contributor for the Panthers in 2016, helping anchor down the offensive line from the guard position. Norwell started and played in all 16 games helping to open holes for Panthers running backs to be a top ten rushing offense, and helped to protect Panthers quarterbacks.

Andrew Norwell has been in the starting lineup for the Panthers since week seven of the 2014 season and immediately helped the line improve to have the seventh ranked rushing attack that year. Individually, he did not allow a single sack and was among the best guards in the league.

He picked up where he left off the next season in the 2015 season as he only allowed two sacks all year and assisted the Panthers on the way to the second ranked rushing attack in the league and a berth in Super Bowl 50.

College Career

Norwell was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and played his high school football at Anderson High School and played his college football at Ohio State University from 2010-2013. During his true freshman season he served as the primary backup at right tackle and was named to the Big Ten all-freshman team.

From his sophomore year on he was a starter along the offensive line. He was an honorable mention to the All-Big Ten team for his sophomore season and was a first team All-Big Ten selection for his junior and senior seasons. During his career with the Buckeyes, Norwell started 39 of 50 games. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Carolina Panthers after going undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft.
