Oakland Raiders in talks with Marshawn Lynch

Oakland Raiders in talks with Marshawn Lynch. Wait What? Rumors of Marshawn Lynch coming home to Oakland and the Oakland Raiders have swirled for years

Oakland Raiders in talks with Marshawn Lynch

Rumors of Marshawn Lynch coming home to Oakland and the Oakland Raiders have swirled around for years. So when this batch of rumors started I dismissed it pretty casually. Don’t get me wrong, Greg Papa is an honest man and a legitimate source for all things Raiders. But, he actually did not say Beast Mode, only hinted at it on 95.7 the Game.

It also fed off Bruce Irvin’s tweet.

Normally I am professional skeptical of these kinds of rumors. However my professional resolve melted when Ian Rapaport tweeted this.

Lets forget for the time being that Marshawn Lynch’s rights are held by the Seattle Seahawks. Lets overlook that he has a base salary of $7 million dollars and a $3 million dollar roster bonus. Forget he will be 31-years-old for just for a minute, so we can actually discuss what Beast Mode could bring to the Raiders.

First Marshawn is in shape. He has been traveling the world and living the retired life, but kept in shape. Also, his style of running seriously reminds me of John Riggins, or Otis Anderson. Those two running backs only added to their legend playing into their 30’s.

Then there is our current stable of Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington. Beast mode would absolutely be the perfect fit with these two studs.

Then there is the public relations aspect.

With the Raiders moving to Las Vegas likely, signing Marshawn Lynch could keep the Oakland Faithful coming to games.

Lets face it. The Raiders could very well be approved for relocation in less than two weeks. Signing Beast Mode would be one of the biggest events in the last decade for the Oakland Raiders. Jersey sales alone for a Raider’s “#24 Lynch” would be off the charts. So it would be hard pressed for the local fans to stay away when a home grown Oakland hero is playing.
And the Teasing continues!

Understand that I am not saying this is going to happen. But if it does. The Raider Nation, especially in the Bay Area, will absolutely lose their mind. To be honest, so will I.
