Week 13 Fantasy Football Spotlight: Top Five DFS Quarterbacks

Drew Brees has the highest salary of any quarterback on this weeks slate and rightfully so. Brees has been playing on another level lately picking apart defenses with regularity. This week should be no different.

Another week, another fantasy spotlight. This week in the spotlight the focus is put on your DFS (daily fantasy sports) teams. If you play DraftKings or FanDuel you know the struggles of finding the right quarterback. The spotlight this week will highlight the top five quarterbacks that can lead you to big money in week 13. The fantasy spotlight is officially turned on for week 13 as we look at the top five DFS quarterbacks.

Week 13 Fantasy Football Spotlight: Top Five DFS Quarterbacks

Drew Brees

Salary: DraftKings $7,600 FanDuel $9,300

Drew Brees has the highest salary of any quarterback on this weeks slate and rightfully so. Brees has been playing on another level lately, consistently picking apart defenses. This week should be no different. After torching the Los Angeles Rams for 310 yards and four touchdowns, Brees faces a Detroit Lions defense ranked 28th against fantasy quarterbacks. The New Orleans Saints offense is lethal at home and that trend will continue in week 13. The high salary of Brees could make his ownership percentage a little lower than normal.

Philip Rivers

Salary: DraftKings $6,500 FanDuel $8,200

The San Diego Chargers may be the best 5-6 team we have seen in a long time and Philip Rivers is a huge reason for that. The veteran quarterback is having another productive season and will continue producing this week at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rivers is coming off a three touchdown performance in Houston last week against a stingy Houston Texans defense. This week the Chargers meet a Buccaneers defense ranked 22nd in the league against opposing quarterbacks. Tampa Bay is coming off a huge upset win against the Seattle Seahawks last week at home. While the Buccaneers are very much in the race for the NFC South, this could be a let down game for them. Their defense is average and Rivers, Melvin Gordon and the rest of the Chargers offense will give them a huge test in week 13.

Matthew Stafford

Salary: DraftKings $7,000 FanDuel $8,300

Let’s face it, no one expected the Detroit Lions to be in first place in the NFC North heading into week 13. The Lions have been a pleasant surprise and so has the play of their quarterback. Matthew Stafford is playing to the tune of 19 touchdowns, five interceptions and nearly 3,000 yards. He has played smart football and has learned to protect the ball. This week the Lions head to New Orleans to battle the New Orleans Saints in the Mercedes-Benz SuperDome. While the Saints have been outstanding on offense, they’re woeful on defense. This game has shootout written all over it. Stafford will take full advantage of a Saints defense allowing 26.3 points per game and more than 271 passing yards against per game, good enough for 27th in the league. If you don’t want to pay the high price for Drew Brees, then look Stafford’s way at the “discounted” price.

Colin Kaepernick

Salary: DraftKings $6,100 FanDuel $7,800

Take all the non-football related stuff out of the equation and tell me, how good has Colin Kaepernick been the last four weeks? Over that span he has thrown for more than 1,100 yards with nine total touchdowns and only two interceptions. Last week in Miami Kaepernick nearly brought his team all the way back from a 31-14 fourth quarter deficit against the Miami Dolphins. The rally fell two yards short. If you are a looking for a value play at quarterback in week 13, Kaepernick is your guy. The Chicago Bears rank 21st in the league in points against and had trouble with the mobile Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota last week. San Francisco is winless since week one and this may be their best chance to get a win the rest of the season. Look for another big effort from Kaepernick and the 49ers ground attack.

Russell Wilson

Salary: DraftKings $6,300 FanDuel $7,700

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks are coming off a disappointing performance last week in Tampa Bay. While the division is clearly theirs to lose, the loss last week definitely left a sour taste in their mouth. Seattle returns home to face a Carolina Panthers team that knows their season is over after their crushing loss last week against the Oakland Raiders. The Panthers defense has been a shell of the defense we saw last year during their run to the Super Bowl. Carolina ranks 29th in passing yards against and 23rd in points allowed. Wilson and the Seahawks will look to use this game as a chance to get back on track. Despite the Panthers poor season, this game was not flexed out of primetime. Expect Wilson to show the world he is healthy and ready to lead the Seahawks on another long playoff run.
