The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that they have signed restricted free agent Anthony Cirelli to a new deal. The young forward has signed a three-year contract worth $14.4 million, which carries an AAV of $4.8 million. This contract carries him through the 2022-23 season.

Anthony Cirelli is Head Back to Tampa Bay
While Cirelli has not been in the league for long. He has made an impact right away. Over his short three-year career, Cirelli has only played for the Tampa Bay Lightning. In his time down south, he has recorded 40 goals and 54 assists for 94 total points. A third-round selection, 72nd overall, in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Cirelli has already made a name for himself as a future Selke Trophy Winner.
Last season he finished sixth on the team in points. He scored 16 goals and 28 assists for 44 points. He also added 30 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 52.6 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 0.8.
Cirelli also recorded three goals and six assists for nine points in 25 post-season games on route to a Stanley Cup Championship.
Looking Down the Road
In his short time in the league, Anthony Cirelli has already established himself as one of the more complete two-way forwards. In only his third year in the league, the 23-year old forward has already been a Selke Trophy nominee twice. During the 2018-19 season, Cirelli finished 11th in Selke votes. Yet, during the 2019-20 season, things changed. After a bizarre season not only did Cirelli end with a Stanley Cup Championship. He also finished fourth in Selke votes this year behind players like Sean Couturier, Patrice Bergeron, and Ryan O’Reilly.
Coming into his fourth season, Cirelli and the Lightning are looking to repeat the same success as last year. If next season does in fact start at the beginning of January, Cirelli will be prepared to make another statement season.
