First Round Western Conference Comic Captions

The postseason is alive and well as the eight Western Conference teams did battle to move forward to the Second Round. In this version of comic captions, we will cover the four series’ which recently finished. We’ll include four comic captions to attempt to cover all of the teams who participated.

St. Louis Blues Eliminated by Vancouver Canucks

The St. Louis Blues just couldn’t get going against the upstart, fast Vancouver Canucks club. Jordan Binnington was nothing like his playoff performance last season. He got yanked in the deciding Game 6 when he allowed three goals in a 6:03 span. Giving up four goals on 18 shots was Binnington’s demise. The Canucks played well and deserve to move to the Second Round. Stopping Elias Pettersson was not happening, with Pettersson collecting 13 points in the postseason so far. Vancouver now faces the Vegas Golden Knights, which will test the Canucks’ fortitude in the playoffs.

Dallas Stars Took Out the Calgary Flames in Six Games

The Dallas Stars showed they have offensive firepower and used it to extinguish the Calgary Flames in six games. The deciding Game 6 showed the Stars resilience as they overcame a three-goal deficit to rally for the win. Denis Gurianov was the star as he planted four goals into the Calgary net. He had two goals in the first 3:25 of the middle frame to tie the game 3-3. The Stars became the first NHL team to go from a three-goal deficit to a four-goal lead in the playoffs.

In Conclusion

It was an entertaining First Round in the Western Conference with some surprises, which are becoming normal operating procedure for the postseason. Teams expected to win don’t always do that as well as teams without much of a shot coming through in the clutch.

Stay tuned for when the second round concludes and we have more comic captions.
