After exhilarating qualifying and first rounds, only eight teams remain in the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. Brandon, Mat, and Josh break down what went wrong for the teams that said goodbye this past week, as well as offering insight into what the eight teams still around have done to maintain success.

Starting with some homer bias on Brandon’s part, the crew breaks down how the Boston Bruins were able to dispatch the upstart Carolina Hurricanes so quickly. Can Jaroslav Halak take the Bruins on a deep run yet again? Is there a need for a change with the Hurricanes’ goalie situation?

Another big storyline in the Eastern Conference was the Tampa Bay Lightning‘s emotional five-game win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Lightning suffered one of the most embarrassing playoff losses in history last year. The Presidents’ Trophy winners were swept by the eighth-seeded Jackets. This year’s bubble brought a different story, as the Lightning struck often to dismantle an exhausted Columbus squad. But still, do they have what it takes to make a deep run without Steven Stamkos in the lineup?

There’s been no shortage of entertaining hockey in the Western Conference either. The Colorado Avalanche did their best impression of the Harlem Globetrotters in Games 4 and 5. The Arizona Coyotes would not live to see another day, losing 7-1 both times to close out the series. The Vegas Golden Knights also impressed in their series win, however, Josh believes they have another level of play to find.
