Red Wings Send Prized Prospects to Europe
Zadina and Seider each enjoyed success this past season. Playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League, Seider managed to score two goals and added 20 assists for 22 points in 49 games. He also represented his country at the World Juniors where he collected six points in seven games. He was originally drafted by the Red Wings in the first round, sixth overall in the 2019 NHL Draft. With this being his first season in North America, Seider proved that he is a solid piece of the puzzle moving forward.
Zadina split this past season between the Red Wings and the Griffins. In 21 games with the Griffins, he scored nine goals and added seven assists for 16 points. In 28 games played for the Wings, he scored eight goals and added seven assists for 15 points. He was originally selected in the first round, sixth overall in the 2018 NHL Draft. Zadina will almost certainly make the team full time come next season.
What This Means for the Future
Although the Red Wings finished last this past season, their future looks really bright. With solid prospects in Seider and Zadina plus the fourth overall pick in October, not all is dreadful for the Detroit Red Wings. With rumours circulating that the Wings are interested in Cole Perfetti, it would certainly be a solid addition to their system.
If the Red Wings continue to make smart decisions when it comes to drafting, there is no reason to panic. They have one of the best general managers in Steve Yzerman and he knows what he is doing. His rap sheet with the Tampa Bay Lightning speaks wonders and the Red Wings are glad to have him.
