Have you ever looked at a sports photo and thought of a funny caption? We have, and did a collection of some for the 2019-20 season. Now, we are continuing that with the NHL qualifying series which began recently. We are collecting some photos with humorous captions added to entertain you during this postseason play. Today we cover the Calgary Flames vs the Winnipeg Jets comic captions for the 2019-20 postseason.

The Flames Were on Fire and the Jets Never Took Off
For the Flames in this qualifying series, it was the story of unlikely heroes. Take for instance, David Rittich sitting while Cam Talbot got all three starts in the series. Talbot has had the postseason experience compared to Rittich who had none. Talbot had a 9-8 record with a.922 save percentage and a 2.40 goals-against-average in the playoffs. Call it a hunch but head coach Geoff Ward made the correct decision as to who his starting goalie would be.
Then, who would have thought that such meagre offensive players like Tobias Rieder and Milan Lucic would actually contribute? They both scored a goal in the series. When you combine their offence together you would come up with a whopping 12 goals and 18 assists during the regular 2019-20 season.
In the end, the Flames’ goalie Talbot was the star of the show. His Game Four performance of shutting out the Jets was just what the Flames needed. Granted the Jets were playing without two of their best offensive players, but Talbot gave the Flames the boost they required. His qualifying series stats tell it all. He had a 3-1 record with a .945 save percentage and a stellar 1.51 goals-against-average. The Flames will be moving on to face their next opponent who could be either the Colorado Avalanche, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, or the reigning Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues.

Winnipeg Jets Ran Out of Fuel
With both of their offensive stars injured, the Jets played shorthanded. Without Patrik Laine and Mark Scheifele for the last three games, the Jets were doomed. They did manage to win Game Two 3-2, but it was all downhill from then. Laine tallied 28 goals and 35 assists during the 2019-20 season. Scheifele managed even better with 29 goals and 44 assists. Missing that much firepower turned out to be devastating for the Jets.
Even the Jets star goalie Connor Hellebuyck couldn’t snap his team into playing better. His usually good statistics suffered dearly in this series. He had a 1-3 record with a .904 save percentage and a 3.04 goals-against-average. Those numbers are way down from his regular-season totals. During the past season, he accumulated a 31-21-5 record with a .922 save percentage and a 2.57 goals-against-average. He threw in six shutouts for good measure.
The Better Team Won
Many may say the Flames were able to defeat a depleted Jets lineup in this NHL qualifying series… and they would be right. Injuries are always a part of the game and for the Jets to lose both Laine and Scheifele it shows how valuable both of the players are to the franchise.
The Jets are not without some luck. They now move forward to being one of the teams who will vie for the services of one Alexis Lafreniere. That may be enough to get them through until next season. Then again, losing in the postseason is never an easy venture.
