The San Jose Sharks announced that centre Logan Couture is sidelined long-term with an ankle injury.
Sounds like brutal news for Logan Couture and the Sharks. Hearing fractured ankle and a week to week, long term absence for the captain. Probably at least six weeks out but we will see. https://t.co/q2vMTBASw9

Captain Logan Couture Out Week-to-Week
The Sharks season has been nothing short of a letdown. Now, things have gone from bad to worse. Tuesday night in St. Louis, Sharks centre Logan Couture was in pursuit of a dumped-in puck. On his way there, he got tied up with St. Louis Blues defenceman Vince Dunn where they both unpleasantly crashed into the boards.
Couture dropped immediately reaching for his left knee wincing in pain. Not long after, Couture was later helped off the ice with 12:27 on the clock in the second period. Logan Couture did not return for the rest of the game.
So far this season, Couture has scored 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points to go along with 18 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 49.4 percent Corsi For and a Relative Corsi of -0.4.
Over his 11-year NHL career, Couture has played for only the San Jose Sharks. He has 254 goals and 289 assists for 543 career points in 708 career games. He was originally drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the first round, ninth overall in the 2007 NHL draft.
Looking Forward
The San Jose Sharks are not the team everyone remembers them to be. Usually seen at the top of the Western Conference with a commanding lead, nonetheless, father-time has taken its toll. Currently, the Sharks are sixth in the Pacific Division eight points out of a playoff spot.
Since the beginning of the season, the Sharks have been a field day for hockey media. Coaches being fired, return of long-time heroes, and now this. The Sharks captain has been the shining light in the dark times of San Jose. As a result of his injury, Couture could be out as long as six weeks with a fractured ankle. With the team looking for a playoff push, this certainly has thrown a wrench into things.
