The Anaheim Ducks have announced that they have placed defenceman Hampus Lindholm on injured reserve. In a corresponding move, the club has recalled Josh Mahura from their AHL affiliate San Diego Gulls.

Lindholm was a late scratch for the Ducks and it is believed it is a lower-body injury that is ailing Swedish defender. Lindholm had missed two games at the end of October due to a lower-body injury and one would wonder if he has re-aggravated that injury.
In 15 games so far this season, Lindholm has recorded nine assists. That is good for the team lead amongst defencemen.
Lindholm was originally drafted by the Ducks in the first round, sixth overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
What This Means for the Future
Now that the Ducks have placed Lindholm on the injured reserve, it means he will miss at least the next two games. This means Josh Mahura will get his second stint with the club this season. In his first stint, Mahura scored three assists in three games. All three came in his season debut against the Winnipeg Jets. Mahura has yet to register a point in the AHL this season.
While the Ducks are fortunate to have strong defensive depth to fill the holes in time of need, they certainly do not want to be without Lindholm for an extended period. He has been the teams best defenceman when in the lineup playing a strong two-way game. We should have more news in the coming days as to what is holding the defenceman out of the lineup and a time table of when he will return.
The Ducks’ next game will be on Tuesday as the club will play host to the Detroit Red Wings.
