Jonathan Quick has been a household name in the NHL for the last two decades. That time is now coming to an end. Quick told reporters this morning that tonight’s game against the Florida Panthers will be the last game in his NHL career. Jonathan Quick retires as one of the greatest American-born goaltenders, if not players, of all time.

Three-Time Stanley Cup Winner Jonathan Quick Retires
In his 19-year NHL career, Quick won three Stanley Cups in 2013, 2014, and 2023. In 828 games played, Quick won 410 of them, setting the record for wins by an American-born goaltender. Despite never winning a Vezna Trophy for the league’s best goalie, Quick did win the Conn Smythe as the Stanley Cup Playoff MVP in 2012. Quick played the majority of his career for the Los Angeles Kings, where he was drafted in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. After leaving the Kings in the 2023 season, Quick won his third and final cup with Vegas Golden Knights. Moreover, Quick has spent the last three seasons backing up Igor Shesterkin as a member of the New York Rangers.
Quick Answered When his Country Came Calling
Quick has also represented the United States at several international tournaments. He played for the United States at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, where Team USA finished as silver medalists. Quick played for Team USA in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, as well.
The last few seasons, Quick has been an integral part of the Rangers roster, playing in key games to give Shesterkin more time to rest. While Igor Shesterkin was injured earlier this season, Quick filled in for several games and played like his old self some games. Rumours have been floating around all season that this would be his last season, and those rumours were confirmed today. Congratulations to a great career for a fine NHL backstop.
