Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis missed last night’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights due to an upper-body injury. It is unclear how long the 24-year-old centreman will be out, though for now he has been listed as day-to-day. In his absence, 26-year-old hybrid centreman/left wing Tyson Jost filled in for this game.

Seth Jarvis is No Stranger to Powering Through Injuries
Last year, Seth Jarvis suffered a torn labrum and rotator cup after an awkward fall during an early season match against the Philadelphia Flyers. Afterwards, throughout the season he was required to wear a shoulder jacket to support the injury so he could (safely) hit the ice. Despite the serious shoulder injury, he still dressed for 81 games. He managed 33 goals and 34 assists for 67 points. That point total was 27 above his previous NHL career high. Thus far in 2024-25, he picked up where he left on with 11 points in 13 games.
Furthermore, during the first round against the New York Islanders during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he endured another injury. With a stoved-up shoulder and then a broken finger on top of it, he managed 163 shifts in the second round of the playoffs.
What the Carolina Hurricanes Forward Covering His Role is Like
A new face to the team but not to the NHL is Tyson Jost. In tonight’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights, he is making his Canes debut. Last season, Tyson Jost played for the Buffalo Sabres. Through 43 games, he managed six points. Throughout his career, however, he has achieved 57 goals and 83 assists for 140 points through 456 games.
The Carolina Hurricanes picked up Tyson Jost during free agency, one of the quieter acquisitions. He signed a one-year contract worth $775,000 USD. A very fair bargain for a decent player who can cover both left-wing and centre positions.
