Important Depth Forward Signs with Los Angeles Kings

Tampa Bay Lightning Trade Deadline

Former Edmonton Oilers Warren Foegele has chosen to sign a contract elsewhere. He will sign with the Los Angeles Kings for three years and will command an AAV of $3 million.

Winger Warren Foegele Signs for A Couple Years in Los Angeles

As Warren Foegele signs with the Kings, it was coming off a big year for him statistically. Coming into 2023-24, his previous career-high was 30 points. Then, this past year, he played in all 82 games for his club, reaching the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career. His new career-high in points is now 41 after the big season for him. This was all the while playing only 13:59. Therefore, he is very efficient in his offensive production. Also, it is noteworthy that he gets very little in terms of power play time. Again, making this season notable from an offensive statistics point-of-view. He is also a very fast skater, who can maintain the Oilers tremendous pace when their big guns like Connor McDavid or Ryan Nugent-Hopkins aren’t on the ice.

What Does this Mean for the Kings

After a successful season as the Edmonton Oilers had in 2023-24, the offseason still takes work. The Kings are adding quality depth and looking to compete further. Furthermore, signing a player like Warren Foegele is a big check box off the Kings list of needs. He’s been a great depth forward since coming to the Oilers to begin the 2021-22 NHL season. With the Kings in compete now mode, they could use all the depth in the world. Foegele comes into a well rounded group that’s filled with veterans and youth. With the likes of Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, Quinton Byfield, and Adrian Kempe, having a depth guy like Foegele is great for the club. Things great value for both sides.
