During Tuesday night’s game against the Arizona Coyotes, the St. Louis Blues had four different players leave for various injuries. Of those four players, two are likely to be sidelined. Sammy Blais and Joel Edmundson will not be making the upcoming three-game road trip with the Blues. The latter of the two does have a chance of joining the team in the middle of the trip, though.

Joel Edmundson
Edmundson left with a lower-body injury during the second period of Tuesday’s game. The 25-year-old has been paired on the top-line with Alex Pietrangelo for a while now. He’s netted 11 points in 62 games so far this year. Despite playing alongside Pietrangelo, Edmundson has only averaged about 19 and-a-half minutes of ice time every game.
The Blues haven’t made any call-ups to fill in Edmundson’s spot since the news was announced. Instead, they plan to dress newcomer Michael Del Zotto. That does, however, leave the team without a seventh defenseman to cover any injuries. This might change in the coming days, though, if they decide that Edmundson won’t be able to meet the team in the middle of the trip.
Sammy Blais
Blais also left Tuesday’s game but returned later to finish the game. After the game, Blais woke up and called head coach Craig Berube to let him know that his injury symptoms were significantly worse. The team hasn’t disclosed what this injury is yet but it doesn’t sound very promising for the 22-year-old.
In Blais spot, Robby Fabbri is expected to play in his first game since March 1. Fabbri hasn’t been able to consistently stay in the lineup in his first full season since his crippling knee injuries. He has a measly five points in 29 games so far this year. His latest point came on January 10, when he recorded an assist in a 4-1 Blues win over the Montreal Canadiens.
If Fabbri continues to struggle, the Blues may be in a bit of luck in terms of a replacement. David Perron is going to make his first road trip with the team since January 17. Perron has been out with a concussion that has clearly lasted longer than hoped. Berube said over the weekend, though, that the star winger would have a spot in the lineup whenever he felt healthy enough to return. Everyone is clearly hoping Perron, who has 35 points in 45 games, can return to the lineup as soon as possible.
