Milan Lucic Will Take an Indefinite Leave of Absence From the Boston Bruins

Milan Lucic of the Boston Bruins is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the club. The team provided a statement to major outlets on Saturday with the announcement. The reason is reportedly an alleged domestic incident. However, the police will not provide details on whether Lucic was arrested or not. Regardless, the situation does not seem very good, and the parties deserve the space to allow the process to take place.

Following Reported Incident Milan Lucic Will Be on an Indefinite Leave of Absence

Lucic had been out of the Bruins lineup since October 21st with an injury. The 35-year-old signed a one-year deal in the off-season to help the Bruins with toughness and depth. Furthermore, he has played very regularly throughout his NHL career totaling 1177 career regular season games. This is second stint with the team. Previously, he had spent eight seasons with Boston, including being a part of the 2011 Stanley Cup championship team, before leaving in 2015. This entire situation is tough on Lucic’s family and the entire Boston organization. Hopefully, it can have a quick resolution and everyone is able to move forward.

Where Does This Incident Leave the Boston Bruins Organization

In the team’s press release, they said the team “takes these matters very seriously.” In addition, they offered any help to the player’s family that might be necessary. The message is united and simple, everyone just wants everyone to get the help they need. Bruins personnel such as forward Brad Marchand or head coach Jim Montgomery both took on the responsibility to pass these messages along to the public. This is the common theme conveyed by all parties. Once the Bruins had passed on their comments, the said they would provide no more comment. The purpose of this was to not only focus on hockey, but more importantly, respect the privacy of the situation.
