Winnipeg Jets Forward Adam Lowry Suspended Two Games

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that Winnipeg Jets forward Adam Lowry has been suspended for two games. This is his first career suspension.

Adam Lowry has been suspended for two games and will forfeit $31,362 in salary for an incident with Filip Forsberg late in Friday’s game. Lowry hit the Nashville Predators forward with a high-stick late in the third period of the Jets 5-3 victory over the Predators on Friday. The 25-year-old was give a two-minute high-sticking minor.

The St. Louis native has eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in 62 games this season. He also added 31 penalty minutes in 2018-19. His possession numbers are 51.5 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 2.4.

Lowry has only played for the Jets in his five-year NHL career. He has put up 49 goals and 58 assists for 107 career points in 343 career games. Winnipeg originally drafted him in the third round, 67th overall of the 2011 NHL Draft.

He also had a distinguished career with the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL. The big forward netted 45 goals and 43 assists for 88 points in 2012-13. His best season in the NHL was 2016-17 when he scored 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points in 82 games.

What This Means for the Future

Lowry is a big body at 6-foot-5, 205 pounds and is the centre on a line with Brandon Tanev and Bryan Little. The group is one of the better bottom-six lines in the league. Losing Lowry will hurt the chemistry as they’ll have to draw in with a new pivot.

Andrew Copp is the centre on the fourth line and cold move up to take Lowry’s spot. Jets head coach Paul Maurice will to shuffle his lines around until Lowry’s suspension is over.
