Tyler Bertuzzi Suspended

Bertuzzi has been suspended for two games for unsportsmanlike conduct and roughing for an incident involving  Colorado Avalanche winger Matt Calvert during Sunday’s game. Bertuzzi landed a punch from the bench on Calvert

So far this season, he scored nine goals and seven assists for 16 points. He also added 28 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 44.1 % Corsi and a relative Corsi of -4.7 %.

What This Means for the Future

So far this season Bertuzzi in the top five for points and assists on the Red Wings. Bertuzzi is currently playing on the third line with Detroit but could move up to the top six if he continues to put up solid numbers. He is also a part of Detroit’s first unit on the man-advantage. Detroit is currently 19.7% on the man-advantage with is 15th in the NHL. Bertuzzi is coming off a year where he missed 25 games due to injuries but has already surpassed his goal total from last year in only 27 games this season. There is no doubt that Detroit will miss Bertuzzi’s presence on the ice while he is serving his suspension. Martin Frk will most likely find his way into the line-up with Bertuzzi out.
