Coyotes Trade Dylan Strome to Blackhawks
The Coyotes completed a trade late Sunday with the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks acquire forward Dylan Strome and forward Brendan Perlini in exchange for centre Nick Schmaltz

Dylan Strome
Strome has a very good shot and is a solid playmaker. This season, he scored three goals and three assists for six points in 20 games. He’s also supplied six penalty minutes. His possession numbers are 52.8 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 1.9. Last season he scored four goals, five assists for nine points in 21 games.
Over his three-year NHL career Strome has played for the Arizona Coyotes. In that time, he has seven goals and nine assists for 16 career points in 47 career games. Arizona originally drafted Strome in the first round, third overall of the 2015 NHL draft.
Brendan Perlini
Perlini is a big body with speed and scoring ability. This season, he scored two goals and four assists for six points in 21 games. He’s also supplied six penalty minutes. His possession numbers are 53.4 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 3.9. He scored 17 goals, 13 assists for 30 points in 74 games last season
Over his three-year NHL career Perlini has played for the Arizona Coyotes. In that time, he has 33 goals and 24 assists for 57 career points in 152 career games. Perlini was originally drafted in the first round, 12th overall of the 2014 NHL draft by the Coyotes.
Nick Schmaltz
Schmaltz is a creative puckhandler that can create scoring chances. This season, he scored two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 23 games. He’s also added six penalty minutes. His possession numbers are 51.5 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -0.4. He scored 21 goals, 31 assists for 52 points in 78 games last season
Schmaltz has only played for the Chicago Blackhawks in his three-year NHL career. He has 29 goals and 62 assists for 91 career points in 162 career games. Chicago took Schmaltz in the first round, 20th overall of the 2014 NHL draft.
What This Means for the Future
The Blackhawks and Coyotes have made their fourth trade between the two of them since June 2017. Stan Bowman is looking to fill the roster with young talent in the 2-for-1 swap.
It’s been a busy week for the Strome family as Ryan Strome was dealt to the New York Rangers.
