Goaltender Jack Campbell signs a contract with the Edmonton Oilers. The contract is five years and $25 million. Or $5 million per season. Campbell helped the Toronto Maple Leafs get to Game 7 of Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs before falling to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Jack Campbell Signs New Contract
Campbell had an amazing regular season and improved his playoff record this season. Unfortunately for him and the Leafs, his efforts weren’t enough to stop the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, it was enough to make him one of the top free agents of this offseason. Now, the goaltender has secured his new contract, taking his name off the free agent’s list.
Campbell’s 2021-22 Season
Throughout 49 regular-season appearances, Campbell had a 31-9-6 record, a 2.64 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. He was a key factor in the Leafs’ success in the regular season, helping the team establish the best record in franchise history. In addition to his amazing campaign with the team, Campbell ranked 11th in wins and 14th in GAA league-wide. During the playoffs, Campbell had a .897 and a 3.15 GAA playing all seven games in the first round.
What This Means For The Future
Campbell is a great player on and off the ice. Inside the locker room, he is loved by his teammates and they don’t try to hide it. On the ice, he is reliable, calm and always tries his best to steal games for the team he’s playing for. Even though his career did not have the smoothest of starts, he found his game. Since joining the Leafs, he gave everything he had and got the starter job. It’s no doubt he will continue to do so now. Campbell is a smart and likable goaltender who will be loved by the team and the fans very quickly!
