Evgeni Malkin Re-Signs With Penguins
Over his 16-year NHL career, Malkin has only played for the Penguins. He has put up 444 goals and 702 assists for 1,146 career points in 981 career games. He was originally drafted in the first round, second overall of the 2004 NHL draft by the Penguins. The 35-year-old has three Stanley Cups under his belt in his time with the Penguins. He also collected multiple awards including the Calder Memorial Trophy, the Art Ross Trophy twice, the Conn Smythe Trophy, the Hart Memorial Trophy, and the Ted Lindsay Award. To say that Malkin has had a successful career with the Penguins would be an understatement.
What He Brings to the Table
At six-foot-three-inches, Malkin is a big player that uses his body to play a physical game. Malkin has recorded 557 hits thus far in his career. However, being a point-per-game player, he has mastered both. He has been a consistent offensive producer for most of his career. His career-high goals for one season is 50. As the alternate captain, he has shown his leadership role, stepping in when his captain was out long-term due to injury.
Malkin is a player that works hard every second he is on the ice and he gives it his all every single shift. He may have a shy demeanour off the ice, but he can also play into the enforcer role. He has been a staple of the Penguins’ success during his time in the organization. Not only does he hold multiple records for the Penguins, but in the NHL in general that players will strive to break for years to come. Despite his age, Malkin still has a lot to offer in the coming years.
