The Nashville Predators have announced that goaltender Juuse Saros is out with an ankle injury, and will miss the remainder of the season. Saros suffered the injury with just over 7 minutes left in the third against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday.

Juuse Saros Out With Ankle Injury

The Nashville Predators are going to be without starting goaltender Juuse Saros for a while. He has sustained an ankle injury and won’t be back until the playoffs. In his absence, the team recalled Connor Ingram from the Milwaukee Admirals.

Saros, 27, has been in the NHL since the 2016-2017 season and took over starting duties after Pekka Rinne retired at the end of the 2021 season. Saros has played 67 games so far this year, with a 38-25-3 record. He also has a 2.64 GAA with a 0.918 Sv%.

Ingram, 25, has been with the Predators organization since the 2019-20 season and has played the majority of his career in the AHL. With Milwaukee this season, he has recorded a 30-17-7 record, with a 2.70 GAA and a 0.915 Sv%.

What This Means For The Predators

For the Predators, this is a bad time for Saros to be out with injury, considering there isn’t much time until the playoffs begin. Luckily, they have already clinched their playoff spot. But it also severely hampers their goaltending. However, there is hope that Connor Ingram from the AHL affiliate Admirals can fill the missing piece they have at the moment.

There are reports that Saros should be ready for the start of the first round, although no timetable has been released yet. Hopefully, he is back in time for the first round.

Nashville hasn’t missed the playoffs since their run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017, although they haven’t gotten far past the second round since. They are looking to redeem themselves with a much stronger lineup this season.
