Prospect Ivan Miroshnichenko Diagnosed With Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Ivan Miroshnichenko is one of the top prospects of the upcoming 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Seeing anyone diagnosed with such things is terrible. Miroschnichenko was recently ranked at 6th in Bob McKenzie’s midseason draft rankings, with one scout even having him at #1, being the only player other than Wright to receive a #1 ranking in this NHL Draft Rankings.
Miroshnichenko has been solidly said to be a top-10 pick this season by most eyes. But that now becomes second to overcoming this disease. Hodgkin’s Lymphoma has a very high survival rate and is the same disease that Mario Lemieux beat in the early 90s. The diagnosis is the most common form of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and can be cured.
So far this season, Miroshnichenko has 10 goals and 6 assists in 31 games for Omskie Krylia in the KHL this season. He captained the Russian team in the most recent Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Miroschnichenko posted four goals and five assists for nine points in five games in the tournament. He has indicated his desire to return to the game as soon as possible. McKenzie described him as a sturdy player with a fantastic shot and good offensive instincts. He can also play a physical game on the forecheck, making him an incredibly threatening player to play against.
Miroshnichenko will have the entire hockey world supporting him through his recovery from this terrible disease.
