Petr Mrazek Injury Keeps Him Out for Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that goalie Petr Mrazek is out again. Joseph Wall will be the backup tonight. The Petr Mrazek injury is a groin injury. It kept him out six games already and he came back for just one before tweaking it again.

Petr Mrazek Injury

A Petr Mrazek injury is not ideal for the hot Toronto Maple Leafs. Part of their system was relying on depth at the goaltending position as Jack Campbell has never had a full starter’s workload. However, as long as it remains a short-term thing it shouldn’t be a worry. Campbell has been unreal to start the year and it was probably his net tonight anyways. The biggest thing for Toronto is making sure Mrazek is fully healed before returning.

After tonight, Toronto plays Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Ideally, Mrazek is back before the doubleheader next weekend. If not, Woll will almost certainly be starting. Michael Hutchinson is also with the Marlies and would be an option. Mrazek has struggled so far in just two games with Toronto. Posting an .877 Save Percentage. However, the team hasn’t helped a ton in front of him either.

Toronto has really turned it around since Mrazek went down. They also got him a win in his return back. The focus will be to make sure he is ready to go without any hesitation this time. Toronto will need Mrazek to pick up some games down the road as Campbell needs a rest. It’s why they signed him to a three-year deal. For now, look for Toronto to give Campbell most the starts in hopes this is nothing serious.
