Eeli Tolvanen

The Nashville Predators have announced that they have signed RFA Eeli Tolvanen to a three-year, $4.35 million contract. This contract will have an AAV of $1.45 million and will take him to the 2023-24 season.

Predators Sign Eeli Tolvanen

Tolvanen has just completed his rookie year with the Nashville Predators during the 2020-21 NHL season. In 47 NHL games, he scored 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points. He was the 30th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft by the Predators, the same year they went to the Stanley Cup Finals. Tolvanen has spent the past couple of seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL. He scored 36 goals and 35 assists for 71 points in 123 AHL games. He had a P/60 of 2.2, a 50.2% Corsi and 49.7% Fenwick this year.

What to Expect

The 22-year-old had a very good outing in the NHL this season. In 40 games, he scored 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points. He initially was seen as a top prospect. Many thought that he had the potential to be an elite winger for the Predators, but unfortunately, his stock as a prospect dropped as the years went by. However, he came into the NHL this season and was a decent Top 6 Forward for the Predators. He played on a line with players such as Matt Duchene, Luke Kunin, Filip Forsberg and Ryan Johansen. Tolvanen also had good production to go along with it. Unfortunately for the Predators, they seem to be a team on the decline, as they have shipped out notable pieces such as Ryan Ellis. However, this will be better for Tolvanen’s development in the NHL because he will get more opportunities to prove himself. He has lots of talent left in him, and don’t be surprised if the 2021-22 season is a breakout year for Tolvanen.
