The Ottawa Senators have signed restricted free agent forward Brady Tkachuk to a seven-year contract worth $57.5-million, averaging $8.214 million per season. This contract carries him through the end of the 2028-29 season. The contract includes a no-movement clause for years five through seven and does not carry any signing bonuses. Most of the money will be coming to Tkachuk in the middle of his contract, with very little placed on this season.

Brady Tkachuk Re-Signs With the Ottawa Senators
Tkachuk was drafted fourth overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Senators. Over his three-year NHL career, he has put up 60 goals and 65 assists for 125 points in 198 games.
Last season, Tkachuk led the Senators in points, came in second behind Connor Brown in goals and second in assists behind Thomas Chabot. He had 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points in 56 games. That is approximately .64 points per game, which is the most he has averaged in his career so far. He came very close during his rookie season with 22 goals and 23 assists for 45 points in 71 games, which is approximately .63 points per game. In his second NHL season, he had almost identical numbers with 21 goals and 23 assists for 44 points in 71 games, which is approximately .62 points per game.
Along with putting points on the board, the Tkachuk’s are also known for not being afraid to lay a big hit or take a penalty when needed. Last season, he led the Senators in penalty minutes with 69 and hits with 248. The player with the second-highest number of penalty minutes was Erik Gudbranson with 47. The player with the second-highest number of hits wasn’t even remotely close. Nikita Zaitsev tallied 114.
What This Means for the Future
While the Senators did not make the playoffs last season, young talent like Joshua Norris and Tim Stützle coming in and adding to the offence Tkachuk was already producing, made the team fun to watch.
They have the potential to be even better moving forward, especially now that they’ve locked down one of their best players in Tkachuk. Tkachuk is the type of player the Senators can build their team around to become a serious contender down the road. This deal is a step in that direction.
